Fairy gardens have become so popular. I at first thought the idea was kind of goofy, but I have warmed up to it a bit, and decided to plant a "kitchen fairy garden".
I had this rectangular barrel planter...
It was just sitting on the deck today. Unplanted. Unplanned.
I thought about making it into a fairy garden. After I checked out the internet "fairy gardens", I found that I had no little cottage, no little fencing, no little fairies, and finding the "fairy" stuff today in my small town would be impossible.
I decided I did have some kitchen junk to make a "kitchen fairy garden". (if there is such a thing)
I had some vintage kitchen utensils, ricers, pots, a scoop, pot lids, and a muffin tin. Also some dollar store stones.
So I purchased (and dug up) what I thought could be considered "fairy" garden plants. Low growing and small blossomed.
My plants included: wooly and creeping thyme and hen and chicks from my gardens, and I purchased ornamental oregano, and a trailing thyme, alyssums, pony tail grass, moonbeam viola, and a great pink ring bacopa.
I can't wait to see how it turns out when the plants fill in and bloom!
I will keep you posted!
